Llanwrda Post Office Action Group - Rural Campaign to Stop the Post Office Closure, Save the Shop, Raising Funds For Local Groups - our Village Hall and Children's Playground, Supporting Local Schools, Keeping You informed about the Area.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT  - JUST 24 hours TO SAVE OUR POST OFFICE

Please email consultation@postoffice.co.uk NOW

to help save our Post Office in Llanwrda.

Post Office Ltd says there are just 274 people served by our Post Office. We say (and so does the Office of National Statistics) that there are 1,500 of us. To prove it we need 1,000 letters or emails sent to Post Office Ltd by 14th July. It is too late to write but you can still e-mail (details where to send your  email are at the end of this page)

BUT – it’s not a vote; each letter needs to say why this particular Post Office should stay open. Some facts and ideas are below – you may think of more – what is important is how the closure will affect you, your neighbours, your family.

If you need help writing your letter contact Post Office Llanwrda, LLANWRDA SA19 8HD or telephone 01550 777213 or email savellanwrda@btinternet.com

In Your Letter

Tell Post Office Ltd about you personally, what you use the Post Office and shop for, how many parcels you send, if you work from home, if you don’t have internet access, if you see queues at other Post Offices, if you are over 60, if you are a parent needing the shop and post office, how the closure will affect you personally.

 ·  CHALLENGE - their maths! Post Office Ltd says there are only 274 of us – it has forgotten all the local villages.

·  TRANSPORT/ACCESS – How would you get to Llangadog or Llandovery. Describe your journey. Could you afford it?

·  GEOGRAPHY this is a rural area and we have very few services – other Post Offices have already closed.

·  THE MOBILE VAN – could you use it? Is it a safe location with a school and playground nearby? Are there any locations where it can be sited?

·  ESSENTIAL SERVICES – access to Cash, Electric Tokens, Milk, Bread etc would be lost, we have no other shops/banks

·  SPECIAL NEEDS - High population of older people, families with no car during the day, Home workers & Self Employed.

·  IMPACT ON ECONOMY - Shop sells Local Produce – Bread, Pies, Jam, Honey, Welsh Butter, Welsh bacon, Welsh Ham.

·  COMMUNITY - Isolated people come for companionship and to meet neighbours.

·  FUNDRAISING – Post Office Llanwrda sells second hand books for charity, supports local events by advertising.

·  PARKING - Post Office Llanwrda has free parking and those with disability or heavy parcels can stop outside

·  HOURS - Why the limited hours would not be convenient.
